Doug's interest in taxidermy started early on. He mounted his first bird at about ten years of age and progressed from there. In addition to books and video instruction, he became a graduate of the Northwestern School of Taxidermy, the Missoula Valley School of Taxidermy, as well as receiving intensive one on one training with some of the country's finest fish taxidermists. An accomplished mammal and bird taxidermist as well, today Doug focuses exclusively on fish art. Not satisfied with turning out average fish mounts, he has become widely known for the fine detail and outstanding craftsmanship of his mounts. Although he has worked with a wide variety of species, he specializes in salmon, trout, steelhead and char. We are located in the metro Phoenix area just south of Greenway Parkway and Cave Creek Rd. Many of our mounts can be completed in 12-14 months, except for exotic animals from other countries, which take longer. We ship and receive mounts from all over the world.

Cole's Taxidermy was established in 1968, by David Cole as a part time hobby. This 1200 sq. ft. studio is still at its original location in Excel, Alabama. David also worked fulltime at Alabama River Pulp Mill to support his wife Carol and their three sons Allen, Steve, and Michael. In April of 2004 David retired and began working fulltime in his studio. And also helped Michael establish a second Coles Taxidermy, a 575 sq. ft. studio in Milton, Florida. David, and Steve handle the work in Alabama while Michael handles the work from Florida. Their turn around time on most mounts is 3 to 4 months. They each enjoy different areas of taxidermy David and Steve both specialize in the whitetail deer and other fur bearing mammals. Michael puts his interest in fish painting and whitetail deer.

Although a standard flying mount can make any hunter proud of their harvest, please allow me to reproduce a scene fitting of the surroundings of that special hunt. Before allowing another taxidermist to mount your waterfowl, take it to someone who spends time in the field watching birds in their natural habitat. Although I do specialize in waterfowl or game birds, I also mount small game and fish if time allows.
